A new novel by first-time author Edgar James will be released in Fall 2025. Beautiful is the story of identical twin brothers, Stéphane and Rémy who are dire opposites. Stéphane is quiet and complacent, head down at work, moving through life. Rémy is wild and in the moment. But when Stéphane overhears a conversation about a teenager who cut off his hand to feel complete, it triggers something inside him.
Stéphane finds a support group led by an underground surgeon. As some answers become clear, others present themselves, and Stéphane is torn between what he wants, what others want and what his brother wants—something even more bizarre than Stéphane’s body dysmorphia, that could bring them closer than they’ve ever been.
The novel will be released in four formats: a hardcover, trade paperback, mass market paperback and ebook from Rubbersquare in Fall 2025.
Edgar James, the second-oldest of seven, is the product of a nomadic childhood. His family finally settled when he was thirteen, but, ironically, Edgar found himself unsettled and explored darker paths before discovering salvation through the power of words, having written dozens of shorter works before several failed attempts at longer fiction. Beautiful is his first published novel.
