I was nervous to watch this, not unlike how I felt before watching Hostel. I don’t like movies that go too far, and I heard this one did. I generally like Lars Von Trier’s films; Antichrist was awesome.

So I watched it.

Kinda not nearly as intense as I’d feared. Much like Hostel. But where that one disappointed, this one didn’t. I don’t LOVE it, but it was a fun 2-and-a-half hours.

Uma Thurman continues her transformation into Ellen Barkin.

What was more shocking is there was no hardcore sex. That seems to be Von Trier’s thing lately. And the violence was pretty graphic, but… maybe because the film is so well shot and very artsy without tipping over into pretention, the violence seemed fairly tame. Or I’m just getting numb.
